I thought it might be a surprise for a lot of you to realise how many followers you had! 😃👏🎉

So because I imported about 200 people onto my mailing list, the majority if which don't use the app and only ever read the email, I assumed they didn't count as followers. It looks like that's not the case?

Yes, all you Subscribers are also classed as Followers by default, and so the difference between the two numbers are just the Followers, who can keep up with you via Notes.

Thanks, Rose. I like it, too. I wrote a book with the same title - it's all about liking being old. I still stand on my head at 82.

I changed my mind. Early morning is a bad time for Notes, I would guess, because the US isn't awake yet. I am switching it to 10.45 pm UK time.

Actually, Kate, I am a little confused (standing on my head too long?). You list 15 types of note and then said post a note at the same time of day etc for 7 days. Is that just one note, a different type each day? So 8 types of notes never get a look in? or should it be two posts at the same time...? I may be a bird of little brain but I am trying to do the right thing!

Hi Ann, thanks for joining in! 👏

Just one type of Note, but different each day, and at the same time.

Thanks, Kate! I feel like my Notes go into the void so this is going to be a fun experiment. I've been following everyone's advice here, but I'm still just flooding around in the vacuum most of the time. In my 3rd month.

It's a slow start, but it does gain traction as you make more connections.

Looks like you're around the 100 subs mark, I believe Substack takes you a bit more seriously after 100 and pushes your posts/Notes out a bit further, I certainly experience a better growth rate after the 100.

Joining in with us will certainly help! 👏

I was just wondering... is the idea that we all A-B test at the same time? If yes, what day are we starting?

Expand full comment

We don’t need to post our Notes at the same time as each other, just ourselves. So after 7 Notes, one on each day, we can see if there are any overriding similarities between everyone’s best performing Type of post and Day of posting.🤓

Ps: start today and do (at least) one a day at the same time for 7 days.

Pps: if you normally do more than that, then keep going with those, but don’t count them in the test.

Yes, you can start today, or tomorrow, whichever is convenient. I've allowed a few days before and after for people to catch-up.

The key thing is to do the Notes at the same time of day each day, so we can see if there are any patterns. Good luck! 🤓

Second one done. Interestingly, my post yesterday just re-stacking my post showed up as me re-sharing a previous note, not the post from scratch even though I went to the actual post to share it. Huh.

Funnily enough I experienced a similar thing recently where I went to compose a Note and then decided against it halfway through, and then couldn't get rid of that Note and just had to go with it.

It is a very robust platform though overall, I rarely find glitches, which is refreshing. 😃

Welcome aboard! Yes, it's tricky when you have more than one Substack (as do I) because when you post a Note, it's from you, rather than the Substack... unless of course, you're reposting from one of them.
