3. My father starting a love affair at the age of 90, but what it is REALLY about is that old people are very much like all other people and it's fine to be old
That may be funny to you (and it would once have been funny to me), but to me now (age 82) Sophia Loren's mother gave a perfectly reasonable answer. As I said in the post before that one, Just Keep Going.
Thanks. My mission is to make young people think about old people differently. It will be an uphill battle and I'll die first, but I will give it a good try.
Well, he wasn't trying to prove anything β as far as he was concerned, he was having fun! Other people could easily do the same if they really wanted to, which is my point,

Some great tips here and something I have to be more and more mindful of. Trying to keep offline in the mornings to do other things, then in the afternoon I can read and absorb. Feels a better start to the day.
Yes! Something that's helped me over the past couple of weeks is to keep my phone away from my bed, or as far as possible in the mornings. I try to meditate, shower, exercise, make and eat breakfast, and get some sun! Only then do I get online.
This is soooo the nudge that I needed, Kate. I've been eyeballing your new geek out sessions. I love your vibe + style and as a total newb, I really need some guidance.
We employ a team of gardeners: the camera never lies. Chortle. By the way, well done for reaching and indeed exceeding the magic number of 1,000. Here at Freedman Towers we are still languishing at under 1,000.
Unbelievable! I can't believe I overtook you! π³
Maybe yours has gone into stasis a bit early, mine definitely had a weird freeze just before the thousand, I wonder if that's programmed in, to freak everyone out?
You might like to pop along to the next Geek Out where I will be sharing my best growth hack! π
Well done though! Oh, possibly i suppose. I lost one paid subscriber too πͺ. Oh well. Thanks for the invite, but I'm trying to keep my outgoings in check. Nothing personal obviously. I wish substack had a way of letting people pay for a single article, and/or spreading one subscription over more than one newsletter. I don't think I've expressed that very well, but hopefully you know what I mean.
Yes, I totally understand what you mean, Micropayments would be a way for people to pay for one article without getting into a subscription, that subject is on the next Geek Out agenda, I have some ideas on how this could work, now, with the technology that we have at our disposal today.
Very keen to get started on that, as it really will be a game changer! π

I love the story about Sophia Loren who asked her mother (who was about 80 at the time):
"At what age do people stop having sex?"
To which she replied: "I don't know, you'll have to ask someone older."
π
That may be funny to you (and it would once have been funny to me), but to me now (age 82) Sophia Loren's mother gave a perfectly reasonable answer. As I said in the post before that one, Just Keep Going.
Such a beautiful read Ann, loved this π

Fascinated to see your I hate autumn list! I always say I like it but Iβm not sure I do β¦ all depends on the weather
Agreed, a sunny autumn day (like winter) is a gorgeous thing, but a wet and miserable one... not so much. π
And they seem to generally be the latter !!
Ainβt that the truth!
Am definitely not an autumn or winter person either, it's a season I feel to endure but I am growing to seek out what is good about it.
So many people say it's their favourite, but how can it rival Spring... all fresh and optimistic! π₯°
