Another interesting thing about the Substack Writers London meet-up (apart from all the amazing people I met) was that I was asked when would Type Club start?
It’s a lovely thing when you start a project (or in this case almost start one) and without any prompting from you, people ask you about it.
That’s when you know it’s a good idea.
Let’s get to it!
When I launched my first Substack, Off on a Tangent, I didn’t know anyone on the platform who could give my posts a boost or ‘like’ my Notes, it really did feel like I was wandering around by myself trying to work it all out.
It was great fun to make connections with others who were also at the start of their Substack journey, so we could help and encourage each other along the way.
Here’s a freebie
My first piece of advice to you is to pay attention to how you behave when you’re on the platform.
Do you leap at every single notification? I certainly did… and still do… who am I kidding. 😉
Do you go and check out someone’s Substack if they’ve left a comment on one of your posts or even just ‘❤️’ it?
If you do it, others will too, and that’s how you get noticed.
The trick is to find like-minded Substackers who’s audience will resonate with your work, and by leaving a lovely Comment on their post it will get noticed by some of their audience who may also like your posts.
Also it’s fun to connect with other Substackers who are at the same stage of their growth journey and you can grow together.
Let’s start with introductions
Use the Comments section of this post (below) to showcase your own Substack and find others who you can help boost… and therefore get noticed by.
Enter the name of your Substack.
Enter what it’s about IN CAPS.
Enter your Subscriber number. Don’t worry about small numbers here, Substackers love an underdog, if you only have 3 it’ll probably have doubled or trebled by the morning!
Then scroll down the list to find other Substacks that you like the sound of, Like their Comment and go off to their Substack and take a proper look. Leave a ❤️ and Comment on a post of theirs that resonates with you, and if you love it give them a real boost and subscribe, they will certainly notice you then!
Come back to this post over the next few days and see who else has left an introduction to their Substack to find more connections.
See you in the Comments! 😘
